A factory reset will put the tablet back to like it was brand new. It will remove all user apps and data, it will not affect 3g connectivity if that's what you are asking. If you have a 3g enabled tablet, it will probably remove any user data needed to connect to mobile data. So you will need to re-add or log into Google acounts and carrier accounts. I have never used a 3g tablet so I'm not exactly sure as to what setup is needed to connect, but it will be whatever you had to do when the tablet was new.

    Factory reset change anything

My tablet has been stuck on the Acer screen for a long time now. I did the hard reset with the volume/power/lock switch combo and I got the 2 messages saying Erasing user data...Erasing cache... but it still won't go past the acer screen.

    Welcome,

What device is it? Did anything noticeable happen before the lockup?

Thank you...It's an Acer Iconia A100. I've only had the stupid thing for a year.
    Leading up to the issue:
I got a message letting me know that memory was low, so I started removing apps and it froze. Any time I tried to use it it either got stuck on the Acer screen or for a while there it would go to the Android screen and I was able to do a soft reset 2x but now it won't even get passed the Acer screen

You can try to reload the operating system with the ICS ROM in my signature. If that doesnt work, you can try to contact Acer through their support page and see if it covered under warranty. All you needed is your serial number, that is under the SD card slot door, or on the box.

What device? Do you have a backup in cwm?

There is a warning about doing this with a custom recovery in the first line.
Consult the members in your particular device's hacking forum. Each device has a different procedure to fix this, and some are bricked from doing a factory reset from the settings menu, with a recovery and unlocked.

Other than Bluetooth being flakey, seems my A500 is just getting really slow. Reminds me of how Windows gets after all the updates. Thanks for putting this together. It relieves my fears.

Having trouble with this on an A100 (not rooted) with a non-responsive/spastic touchscreen. When I try to use the recovery mode (the one that shows the picture of the dead droid with the ! above it) I can use the volume rocker to highlight options but the power button won't select them. Home button just reveals/hides the text. Using the above method (rocking the display lock etc) I get a message: "Bootloader v0.03.13-ICS: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol" and it just sits there. How long am I supposed to hold the volume up and rock the lock switch for? I would think a few seconds is enough but I don't get the "Erasing cache" etc. messages.

OK, figured it out. I thought I was pushing volume up but was pushing volume down instead. Using the other volume button it went into "Erasing" after one or two switches of the lock switch. Hopefully this will fix the screen.

    Hi.

I have an Acer Iconia A100.

When the tables power on doesnīt pass the logo ACER. (but the botom Power is blue)

I did reset with a clip paper. The problem is the same.

It is not rooting or other "similar things" (i donīt know so much about this)

I donīt want to perform a Factory Reset because i donīt want to loose the photos and e-books that are inside.

Iīve read that a Factory Reset erase all. I havenīt read the 59 post (so many). Sorry...

My question is about if exist any way to try to save my files before perform a Factory Reset or if exist any possibilty of recover something after the Factory Reset

    Thank you
