Movies on 10" : the good compromise in size/quality ?

I don't know much about video in general. When i convert a dvd to an avi file, i often get that kind of generic 700 MB avi file. Is there a meaning to watching " HD " movies on such small screens ? I'm just asking, and mostly wondering not criticizing.

But here's my real question ... movies take pretty much place if you go with " standard " 700 mb files. Would there be a meaning when I extract a DVD and convert it to a single size, to parameter it so that it would take less place, without losing quality (or at least not enough to realize the difference on a 10 " screen) ?

    Hi, neighbor! Greeting from Spain!
I'm using "Format Factory" to convert my DVD movies. I'm using it to convert movies since three years when I've got my first smartphone - Nokia 5800XM. The program supports french. Those are my settings:

    - Format: MPEG-4 (Xvid)
    - Video Size: 720x576 (standard video resolution for DVD's in Europe)
    - Bit rate for video: 768
    - FPS: 23.976
    - Aspect Ratio: Automatic

    - Audio Encode: AAC
    - Sample Rate (Hz): 44 100
    - Bitrate (KB/s): 128

You can even integrate subtitles and watermark.

If you want to try it, you can download it from here:

Almost all digital cameras have options for setting the size of the digital images they produce. This article explains how to choose the right setting for you and why the factory or default setting is likely to be the wrong one for most people.

Custom crafting options are always better than automatic scheduling
