    Screen Protectors Bad?

I had a salesman at BB tell me than Screen protector were bad to use on capacitive tft touch screens. He told me that they can Ruin your battery because of the way the screens work. Was he full of it or did he have some point?

He said that the Protector keeps telling the tablet that it is being touched and therefore makes the battery always on a slow drain. I will be keeping my A500 in the included case but i really like the screen protector i use on my Zune hd. So i want to make sure if i get one i wont be setting my self up for a short lived tablet.

Gorilla glass is good stuff from what i have seen.

Sounds a lot like BS to me, but I'll wait for somebody to come in and say for sure. I would like to get one just to prevent so many fingerprints.

He definitely doesn't know what he is talking about. Protectors at a good way to save your screen from scratches even if it has Gorilla glass. They are scratch resistant not scratch proof, and I've never heard of such things. They also help with fingerprints and glare, I personally recommend having one.

Me too just trying to decide what one. I'd prefer something that my finger slides easy on and reduces fingerprints. This thing is a fingerprint magnet.

Go to amazon.com and search for Halo Screen Protector. Cheap and very good, is what I'm using.

I just put one on today, it came with my case. For me it's about peace of mind, now I'm not worried about scratching my screen.

99% of the salespeople at electronics stores have no secondary education when it comes to electronics, so when it comes to things like that, I would take it for a grain of salt. From my personal experience, there always seems to be alot of these people at BB....

Anyhow, no... screen protectors do not affect the battery life and performance in modern capacitive PCT type touchscreens (tft has nothing to do with touch screen btw). I would bet this salesman experienced some sort of problem with an older capacitive screen which has the actual touch surface coated instead of being underneath a protective layer.

Mind you, I just fix aircraft electronics, but I would be willing to put a beer or two on this answer...

BTW don't buy screen protectors from a retail store, unless u got money burning a hole in your pocket, there's some great ones on Amazon, just check the reviews before buying! I paid like $10 for a 3-pack.

Just got the halo brand ones recommended here. I'll have to put one on when I have a chance.
