moving apps to a micro SD card

    Hello all,

I have a micro SD card but when I go to apps I can not move them to it. Is there a way to move apps from your internal memory to your micro SD card?

    Thanks in advance,

    Criket

You can't move apps to an external SD card. Stock Android OS won't allow it. The external SD card is merely for files, pictures, music, and video. To be able to move then to the external SD you will have to root the tab which essentially voids you're warranty.

Nope, It seems to be a glaring fault of the honeycomb OS. Even apps that say they are going to download additional data to your sd card, just save it to your internal memory.

Do you think ice cream sandwich will be able to move apps to the SD card?

Great... I have the 8gb acer500. I was hoping at least the apps that ask permission to read and write to my sd card would actually be allowed to do so now. Even if the main app is installed on the internal memory, the option to save extra game data to the sd card should definitely exist.

Might be additional software from OEM that's needed

"For this guide, we used a Nexus S running Android 4.0 ICS and the app we've used works on Android 2.2 or higher."

How to move apps to SD card on Android smartphone

Tried both APP2SD and APP 2 SD - neither worked

I wonder if there may be a path toward a solution by examining how the N2A micro SD card works in the Nook Tablet, which is an Android-based tab. As I understand the info at n2acards.com, downloaded apps are stored on the card and not in the Nook Tablet's memory.

As a new A500 owner I was surprised I could not move apps to my SD card because I CAN on my Coby Kyros MID8024 running the stock 2.2 Android. In the settings>apps there was a button to move apps to the SD card. Most would move however not all. Seems that this is NOT an OS problem....

This was very helpful on my 4gig Colby which has no GPS, because I used mapdroid and could put the app and all the map files I downloaded on my SD card.

Most of the apps for moving programs to the sd card I've found only give app information. The 'move to sd card' button is missing. I found an app called 'Link2sd' which appears would move the app, but have an error statement saying 'Second partition not found' and 'Make sure you have two partitions on your sd card and both are primary'. Still trying to figure it out...
