    A500 3.2 update is here.

Ok, so many people are now seeing the update available for download OTA.

I captured the update as it came in, and have put it on megaupload for anyone who is interested.

    Acer_A500_4.010.38_7.006.01_COM_GEN1
    Acer_A500_4.010.38_7.006.01_COM_GEN1 mirror

I also found a related one on XDA (though it requires decryption before use (I already decrypted the one above))

    Acer_A500_4.010.40_7.006.03_COM_GEN1

A few important notes about this update:
    1) This is an update from the STOCK version 4.010.38 (or 4.010.40), so you must be on that version before using this update. (that upgrade, with instructions, can be found on this thread over at xda)
    2) once you have downloaded the file, rename it to update.zip and place it on an external SD card, then power down and boot up while holding the left volume button, it should update automatically
    3) There is no going back! once you update to this version, the stock roms for lower versions will NOT work anymore, you will be stuck. So read up on it before updating. The biggest thing to note is that there does not appear to be a way to root 3.2 on the A500 yet, so if you apply this update you will not have access to root until someone comes up with a way to root 3.2

The most common reason for this is if you modified your tablet, usually by deleting stock apps after rooting.
your best bet will be to flash it back to a stock image, and then try the update again

forgot to mention, the other big reason it wouldn't work is if you weren't on 4.010.38 to start with (check in your settings and about tablet) if you are on any other version than this update file isnt' for you until you flash your tablet to 4.010.38

My "build number" is Acer_A500_4.010.13_COM_GEN2. Does this mean that I need some sort of update before I can get 3.2? System Update tells me that I'm up to date.

EDIT: Never mind, I see that the first post in this thread answers my question.

I should also mention that XDA has now updated their list of updates to include this one, and they also have one from 4.010.40 to 7.006.03
so if your build currently is 4.010.38 or 4.010.40 you're set, otherwise you'll have to go through an intermediate step to get to one of those first.

I got the OTA for 3.2 this PM, It downloaded but failed to update and gave me an update failed message.
I was rooted (HC 3.1), so I unrooted and tried again. Same results, download was successful
but installation failed. My version is 4.010.38.

First of all where do I go from here
Secondly, Is it worthwhile to upgrade?
