[How To] Factory Data Reset

In the event that you want to start over and reset your A500 to it's fresh out of the box state.

WARNING:
You will lose all of your user and application data. Everything you have synced with your Google account such as contacts and calender events will return after you reset and log back in to your Google account. All of your PAID apps will be available for download again in the market. Your free ones will not so it might be a good idea to make a list if they are important to you.


To factory reset your A500:

• -Go into settings menu
• -Privacy from the left menu
• -Factory Data Reset

As simple as that.

I'm thinking of doing a factory reset. I'm assuming that when all my installed apps are gone that the setting for those apps will be gone too. But if I back up all the contents of my "SD card" folder and restore it after the reset will my apps settings then be restored as well?

No. The only way to effectively back up apps and their data is to root and use a back-up program like Titanium Pro or MyBackUp Pro. Nothing is stored on the SD card except some content that apps may put there.

Thanks, this may be the compelling reason for rooting I've been looking for :-)

Now that I know the size of project I may be looking at, I guess I better get to it...

There is a folder on my SD card named:TitaniumBackup;is this the location where Titanium Backup stores all apps-data that are backed up..

it took me a while to get it through my thick head that i should buy Titanium. but i did. and its worth way more then it cost, by far!
