Question [Q] [DRIVER] windows 8 adb connection fails

    i run windows 8 64x

mtp server runs great but i cannot detect the a200 as adb device

i tried the google usb driver but it looks like they are not compatible with a 64 bit system
stock acer driver just brings me mtp server online but i still have an unrecognized a200 in my device manager. according this it should be driver problem....

so did anyone succeed with an adb connection from windows 8 to a200?

krabbs, if you want ADB to work while the tablet is fully booted (vs in Recovery), you need to change it to use PTP instead of MTP:

Settings/ Storage / Click on the menu and select USB Computer Connection

that doesnt work...i never had problems in windows 7. i just get no adb connection ready in windows 8

i believe its a driver issue

but if somebody confirm working adb in windows 8 with a200 this might be my mistake. however i could connect via adb with my galaxy phone

I see the A200 in the list. Did you try explicitly updating the driver to the correct one? that is frequently needed. Not Win 8 specific

I could not get it running in windows 8...didn't try any compatibility mode testing, but the driver does still have some issues in device manager even after installed. I think we might have to wait for a windows usb driver (unless dear acer decides they don't wanna do that for the a100/200/500 series on top of jelly bean). Either way I just moved to a windows 7 computer and boom working

Solution found for Win 8 + ADB Icona A200

    Hi Guys

After playing a bit around, I found a solution for the problem.

First reboot win 8 so you can install non-signed drivers:
Fix: The third-party INF does not contain digital signature information - Windows 8 - YouTube

Afterwards, follow the instructions below (works for A200 too)
Hacking the ADB USB Driver for Acer A500 DaVinci Unlimited Software

Afterwards, you should be able to go to the device manager, right-click the device and "search locally" for drivers and set the location to the google usb drivers. (sdk folder/extras/google/usb_driver/android_winusb.inf)

Now you should be able to install the driver, with a warning but if you accept it works afterwards!

If you are rooted on your tablet, you can always run this code in a terminal window:

    Code:
    su
    setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555
    stop adbd
    start adbd
Then from a computer on the same network you can type this in a command prompt (assuming your tablet has IP 192.168.0.104):

    Code:
    adb connect 192.168.0.104:5555
Then you can run ADB commands via wireless. It only works if you are booted up to the OS, won't work if you are in recovery.
