This is exactly what I did when I got my tablet two days ago. I just finished the last step last night by flashing the onyx kernel.

*I know this has some info from the hacking forum but I just grouped it all here because I feel help is the first place someone might go. Admins feel free to move if need be*
Hello All!
I wanted to make a thread about the 1SaleADay A200’s or pretty much any refurb A200. If it helps just one person I will feel good. I have spent a lot of time searching for information on how to get the A200 running the way it should and I want to eliminate that for others if possible.
The easiest way to get your tablet up to ICS is as follows:
*No Root Required*
1. Download the OTA ICS update here. (Finding this file was the hard part)
3. The file will be named Acer_A200_AV041.RV00RC00_AV041.zip, rename it to update.zip
2. Save it to a MicroSD card in the root (ie. don't save it in a folder)
3. Turn tab off
4. Hold the left volume button (the one with two dots) and the power button down until you see some white text in the top left corner.
5. Wait about 8-10 minutes. You'll see the Android with turning gear and a progress bar (which stalled several times, don't worry) followed by a white screen that says not to reboot or power off. The device will reboot, tell you it's updating android, tell you it's updating your apps... and then you're done.

Once you have ICS, if you want to root/get custom:
*The awesome devs that made this possible are not responsible for bricked devices*
For Unlock/Root:
SimpleTools by hbwelch. (It takes care of unlock and root all at once)
To Unbloat:
Unbloat Tool by Toffy. (Requires root but extremely easy!)
For Kernels:
Obsidian Lab’s Kernels. (Made for stock roms and CM roms)
Roms:
Rom Forum. (Quite a few to choose from)
**************************************************
I hope this helps someone. I am not a dev but I have been rooting and running roms since the G1 so I would be more than happy to try to answer any questions if anyone ever wants to PM me.
I also want to thank all the devs/contributors to making all of this possible!

How is the performance after ICS? I've heard that there is a bit of a drop.
And why is the refurb so different?
Typed on my new (to me) A200![]()
I am running the 1.5 kernel like jeanne8fr and I am on the stock rom. I didn't notice any drop when I went to ICS actually saw a slight increase in performance. When I put the 1.5ghz on though, it went to awesome. The battery life dropped a very small amount but the gain was so worth it. I have run it for almost 8 hours solid with some battery life to spare on the 1.5.
Not sure about the refurb part though.
All right! I'll have to get this thing updated + rooted! Thanks for the guide! Hopefully things don't go the way of j_medved's A200![]()
Apparently I have an install of CWM from when I tried rooting the 3.2.1.So whenever I try to install the update.zip, it opens CWM and gives me an Error 7 when I tell it to install update.zip. Do you guys know where I can get a stock recovery for my tab (or know a work around)?
Hey!
I think from the point where you are, you need to follow the steps at this thread(credit to the OP).
Good Luck!
