    [ROM][A200] OmniROM KitKat 4.4.4

Freshly built Android 4.4.4 ROM based on Omnirom KitKat !

The Team 'IconiaHD' is proud to present a new ROM for your Acer A200 tablet.

This small team is composed of:
HenrikE: A200 owner, responsible for an unofficial CM-10.2 build for the A200
Doume: A200 owner, experienced linux developer
macia10 (at XDA): A501 owner, tester

This is built from source for the A200, A500 and A501. The A200 version is discussed here, while the A500 and A501 versions are at XDA.

It is built from the latest code in the OmniROM repositories.

Why Omnirom, and not Cyanogenmod ?
Google , through AOSP repository, has dropped support for the Tegra 2 platform. The Tegra 2 does not support the 'neon' instruction set, and more importantly relies on a set of old (ICS) proprietary hardware libraries. AOSP has dropped support for both non-neon devices and the older hardware libraries.

Cyanogenmod has decided to follow AOSP on this and has dropped Tegra 2 support since CM-10.2. With CM-10.2 the differences were not yet very big and could be overcome. But with CM-11 it has become an unreasonably large effort to add Tegra 2 support.

Only Omnirom, for now, has included the forward-ported code in its repository to support machines like Acer A200

A200 is not an 'official' platform, for Omnirom !
Our team did the porting without external help, by analyzing the Omnirom device trees for other devices. The resulting work is published on Github !

    How to install
To flash this rom, it's necessary to have a recent recovery (at least CWM 6.0.4.4 or TWRP 2.6.3.1) having Selinux capabilities.
Otherwise the flash operation fails with status 0 or status 7.

You'll find a version of CWM (version 6.0.4.5) able to flash this rom here:
    CWM recovery for A200
This is a ported version of the CWM6.0.4.5 that nelsontky at XDA published for the A500.

use fastboot on your PC, to install it on your tablet :
    Code:
(for linux:) sudo fastboot flash recovery recoveryCWM6045.img
(for windows:) fastboot flash recovery recoveryCWM6045.img
Now, you can reboot in recovery mode to flash the KitKat Rom....
First, don't forget to execute a 'Wipe Data/Factory reset'
    Flash the KitKat Rom
    Flash the Minimal Gapps
    Do a 'wipe cache partition'
Flash the SuperSU zip file if you need it
Flash the Netflix workaround if you need it

    And reboot System !

Be patient on first boot... There's a lot of background work to do, before coming to the 'Welcome' screen. Don't worry if you are stuck with a black screen for several minutes. Next boot will be much faster.
After first configuration, it's recommended to reboot the tablet to avoid some unstabilities after 1st boot.

    Enjoy KitKat !

    GApps used to be here:
    [GApps][Standard/Minimal] | Google Nexus 5 | xda-developers
The /system partition does not have enough room for full GApps package
    - use the latest "minimal" package : "6-19_GApps_Minimal_4.4.4_signed.zip"
    - to fix calendar sync also install : "6-19_AOSP_Calendar_Sync_4.4.4_signed.zip"
Note that this Gapps distribution has been discontinued and can no longer be downloaded from the thread at XDA. Get the file from:
    https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567721576
    or
    http://domi.dambrain.free.fr/Android...4.2_signed.zip

SuperSU is here: (needed only if you wish to have a full rooted access)
SuperSU is needed for root, get the latest CWM flashable zip from here:
    [2014.02.06] SuperSU v1.93 - xda-developers

Netflix fix for builds 1-4 (not needed for build 5) is here: (primary link coming)
    Mirror: netflixfix.zip
Flash in recovery. It will just copy this simple script to init.d. It is run during boot and changes a setting in the Netflix configuration to use a player backend that works with the Tegra 2. This is a workaround for a bug in Netflix that makes it choose a video player backend that is incompatible with the Tegra 2. The config file is created the first time Netflix is started, so the very first time you start Netflix it will force close. After that, reboot, and then Netflix should work.

USB network adapter drivers are here: usbnetOmni.zip
    Mirror: usbnetOmni.zip
    To install:
    - Use a root explorer to copy the "*.ko" files to /system/etc/modules/

To load the driver at during boot:
    - Edit the file named "60usbnet" to uncomment the right module
    - Copy 60usbnet to /system/etc/init.d/
    - Make 60usbnet executable

Remember : in all cases, it's a good idea to make a backup before installing!
We're not responsible, in any way, if you brick your tablet!

Note: Don't flash any other kernel (Godmachine81 for example). This rom needs the "bcmdhd" wifi driver which is built into the included kernel. All older A200 kernels use the "bcm4239" driver and will not work.

The kernel, and the device tree are available at GitHub: [URL=https://github.com/IconiaHD]Icon

    Known issues:

    All builds
Noise in audio playback, caused by a too low default minimum CPU frequency. Solved by increasing minimum frequency to 312 MHz.
-In Settings / About tablet, tap build number 7 times until you get a message "you are now a developer". This enables the performance menu.
-In settings / Performance, increase minimum cpu frequency to 312 MHz. Also tick "set on boot" to make it permanent.

    Build 6
    General
-Default camera app is included but the icon does not show up. Install the Nexus 7 camlauncher to get the icon. Thanks to jeanne8fr for this solution!
-Default sound recorder app is included but the icon does not show up

    Incompatible apps
    -?

    Notes
-XBMC works (?) if you install this version: http://www.mediafire.com/download/0c...2013-09-06.apk (found by SDBerndt, thanks!)

    Build 5

-Network location does not work properly
-Default camera app is included but the icon does not show up. Install the Nexus 7 camlauncher to get the icon. Thanks to jeanne8fr for this solution!

This ROM is running on my A200, and seems to be 'rock solid' .
To work on that with HenrikE is really funny, you can believe me !

It's time for KitKat, now !

I have cwm 5.5.0.4. Is that good enough to flash this rom? I'm not sure how to fastboot and flash a new recovery..

If it's not compatible, you'll have an error when flashing : But that should not erase anything
I think you'll have to install a Version 6 CWM (this one proposed on 1st post)

To use fastboot, it's very easy, if your PC is ready for adb ( right USB drivers, and SDK tools installed on your PC )
The flash of CWM is very fast

Yes it's been hard work but a lot of fun! This has really been a team effort. It was a brilliant idea when you suggested that we collaborate on this!

Unable to install omni rom since fastboot is saying this when I type "fastboot update omni.zip". Yes, I renamed the omni rom to omni.zip

    archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
    archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
I was unable to install it via sdcard card cause it can only access the internal sdcard via CWM 6.0.5.4. Plus, my internal sdcard is wiped.

It is not possible to flash the entire rom in fastboot, it is only made to be flashed using a custom recovery!
Unfortunately the CWM linked above cannot access the external sd-card. Once we solve that we will post a new version. I'm sorry we forgot to write that.
