Can't enter recovery mode on A200

Tablet was previously rooted and boot loader unlocked using hbwelch's tools (simple tools V2).

Tried to restore device to factory firmware using a DL'ed rom image.

Placed image in ext SD card at root level and named it update.zip

Entered recovery mode with Vol down and power buttons.

selected update from SD card and waited. Update did NOT "take" (device rebooted to pretty much where it was before the attempted update, but su disappeared)

NOW, I can't not get back into recovery mode at all when I boot with vol down and power. 2-3 lines are displayed and the display goes to the "dead android" icon (after displaying the android icon with the spinning blue wire frame do-hickey) .

The unit boots fine normally; just running without an su command. So I haven't bricked it (yet)

I'd like to get this A200 back to stock firmware so I can do an OTA update.

    Thanks

Can't enter recovery mode on A200

The dead droid is the stock recovery.

What is your build number of the firmware?

You should be able to grab the stock firmware and flash it manually using stock recovery (typically put the zip file on a sd card or in the /sdcard/ directory)

If that doesn't work you will need to reinstall CWM or another custom recovery to flash the stock firmware.

First many thanks for the reply.......

However, without being able to even enter recovery mode (Vol DN + Power) I don't know how to flash back to stock.

So I wanted to un-root and relock the bootloader (putting the unit completely back to stock) ...... That was the original desire.

I assumed that re-flashing the stock image would do it, but was apparently wrong.

Now, I just want to get the recovery mode working again....

    Again, thanks for trying...

Can't enter recovery mode on A200

As stated earlier, the stock recovery is the dead droid. Stock recovery does not have any menus or options like CWM.

It only upgrades if a valid firmware is available in the proper location.

Typically that is in the sdcard directory or on external storage.

I am not 100% familiar wit Acer and upgrades.

Have you gone to Settings - about - update and checked for an update?
