Tried to install this because some apps need it and the store says no go.....do we know why or where I can get a workaround to make it work?

I am on the AOKP milestone ROM

You need to get it from Adobe's Archives: Archived Flash Player versions

Grab the latest one for 4.X. Download the apk file.

Go into Settings - Security - Unknown Sources and tick the box. (It may also be under Settings - Apps - Unknown Sources depending on which version of Android you have).

Then use a file manager to install the apk file.

Also, not all browsers support Flash.

    Some choices for Flash:
Dolphin Browser (Flash supported on 4.0, not supported on 4.1 and 4.2 from my experience)
    Firefox
    Firefox Beta
    Overskreen (4.0 only)
    Boat Browser
    Stock Browser
    Opera Mobile (Not Opera Mini)

    Chrome does NOT support flash.

If you're rooted, and it sounds like you are, you can also get Flash to work with Dolphin by doing this:

    - Open /data/data/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en/shared_prefs/com.dolphin.browser.lab.en_preferences.xml

    Change: <string name="plugin_state">OFF</string>
    ----To: <string name="plugin_state">ON_DEMAND</string>

Currently, I'm using Adobe Flash Player v11.1.115.34 on Android 4.1.2
