Sorry if this is a really bone question but is it possible to make apps install to the external SD card to save room on the device.?

Hy, and welcome to the forum.

This question have been asked time and time again, and the answer is no you can't. Android on any level won't allow this, at least on the stock OS. For that to work you need to root your tab which voids your warranty when you do. ICS won't do it either so rooting will be your only option if you are up to it.

On a side note, there are mods that will flip the internal and external SD but I don't know how to make them work on our A200s. I am running CM7 (a Kang build) on my Motorola DX2, courtesy of dragonzkiller. It has the SD flip mod. I am not sure if the MIUI or Eclipse roms are using it on the DX2 as I never tried either of those 2 roms.

But as you say, it does take a rooted device.

    so a rooted-stock ROM wouldn't install apps-to-SD even with a root-only apps-to-SD app from the market??
that might explain why the one root-only app-to-SD app I downloaded closed when I tried to move an app to the SD card....damn.

I think ROM Manager has the option to flip that switch but I do not know if it works with the A200, and I've never used it.

I'm not so sure about this, at least for phones. I have stock Gingerbread on my LG G2X and install most of my apps to the AD card. Never had trouble with it before.

Android has two partitions, your internal memory and your SD card which are both on the internal memory of the device. External card is labeled "ext SD card".

Gingerbread and froyo are different then honeycomb and ICS. No stock apps 2 SD, unfortunately.

If you have root ... install link2sd ... it may work for what you need ... note you will need to be able to create a second ext2 partition on the external sdcard for this to work
