It took me awhile to hunt down the damn thing, but I have posted it from my own site for now, as I appreciate the coders effrots int his AND it worked great on my A200. (btw the volume down rocker is the one CLOSEST to the edge of the device... I was getting a canceled by user error trying to unlock bootloader, this was why.)
http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/AcerSimpleTool.zip is the link, 9 meg or so dnload, virus free.
Went ahead and added the latest 4.4.4 omni... http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/...0-IconiaHD.zip
And now gapps 4.4.2 too: http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/...4.2_signed.zip
Here is the superwipe that I ended up needing to make it all work: http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/...0SuperWipe.zip

    *update* (already?)
So I had no issues with the CWM in the AcerSimpletool but I went ahead and updated it to the 6045 version in the script: http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/...leTool6045.rar
Or you can make it yourself copying it over recovery.img or flash using fastboot: http://www.boboki.com/Temp/AcerA200/recoveryCWM6045.img

Hey BobOki, thanks for the files. Im very new to this. So i have some questions: How can i see if the tablet is really rooted and the Recovery is installed. And if it is all done successfull, how do i do the next steps:

"Now, you can reboot in recovery mode to flash the KitKat Rom....
First, don't forget to execute a 'Wipe Data/Factory reset'
    Flash the KitKat Rom
    Flash the Minimal Gapps
    Do a 'wipe cache partition'
Flash the SuperSU zip file if you need it
Flash the Netflix workaround if you need it"

    Hello,
I dont know if this tool can save me !
I got this tablet stucked on bootlogo (iconiatab, then animation, then iconiatab ...)
The tablet is stock, never rooted or anything.
When I connect it to the PC, it is seen as iconiatab. But I'm not able to get it right.
Hard reset ends with android man lying down with red warning, I also tried an update.zip on SD but I'm not sure it was the good one.
Can I use simple tool ? Or any other idea ?

    Thanks.

    Edit :
In case somebody has the same problem, I solved it : see http://www.acertabletforum.com/forum...screen at boot

I know this is an old thread and I found this same stuff on another one dated about the same. I tried the simple tools from both and they seem to be the same, and it doesn't work on my A200. It says adb is not recognized as an internal or external command ..... and the tablet does nothing at all.
I got the driver from acer and the window opened when I plugged it in and said all good.
So, if anyone is still watching this one, maybe you can help?

Ok, so I guess no one is watching this one but I will update in case someone like me comes looking.
I finally somewhat made the simple tool work, by doing some of it myself, then the tool finished it up. I got the downloads from post 233 by Boboki.
After the root the ROM was acting up a bit so I updated the CWM to the 6.0.x version and reinstalled the ROM. I then lost root. So I looked around some more and found OMNI ROM and installed that making sure to use the superwipe, then installed SuperSu to get my root back. All is good now. The only thing so far is the Google Chrome browser app wont run after I installed from the play store. I removed it and I will try it again.d
Thanks for all the info and help I found in here.

    Hello Guys,

I'm a newbie on this and it might be that I'm late to the party but I just install this omnirom using the first the steps on SimpleRecevory (super simple ClockWorkMod Recovery for your Acer Iconia Tab A200) and after loaded the omnirom on this thread. Everything good even though I was scared to death but the tablet is working fine, however almost every apk that I try gives me a "chrome has stopped", "game x has stopped", "youtube has stopped" "app store has stopped". The weird thing I was able to make whatsapp work just fine using the talkatone app and whatsapp those are working fine.

Am I missing something like a super user or something to install the app store and be able to install youtube and games from there? this super basic table is for my son but since the stock version is really old and unstable I went to flash it thinking that it would be better and in performance is really nice but is not usable if I'm not able to install the basic stuff.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

Acer A200 SimpleTool is a windows comand line tool that will allow you to install my custom kernel that allows the /system partition be to mounted with read/write permissions, it will also allow you to install the ClockWorkMod Custom Recovery, and finally it will allow you to gain root access to your Tab and install superuser.

    Instructions

Download the folder from here - http://db.tt/xYiNjrv5
unzip the folder to your desktop
open the folder and double click the AcerA200SimpleTool.bat
a command window will open up and you just need to follow the directions!

*you have to have a external sd card to back up, flash, and ant other thing that requires storage.*

As always you do this at your own risk please heed the warnings and follow the directions!
