Hey All,

XDA is currently showing a link that is supposedly to the a200 ICS 4.0.3 rom.

[dev][rom] a200 ics 4.03 - xda-developers

Have not yet had a chance to have a look at if its an OTA install or not.

Has anyone managed to get this rom installed on an a200 or seem the OTA release?

Either way looks like our ICS fun is very close to going live.

This is good news, usually when leaks start coming out the official version isn't far behind. I got mine Thursday and LOVE it, it was nice to see the "Upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich, when available" sticker on the front of the box too.

Lol I did, but I am not going to try it, at least until we get some sort of verification as to where it came from.

You will like ICS, its the smoothest, stablest Android OS yet. I have it on 2 devices, even though on my a500 the camera doesn't work, yet.

I Can assure you that the file in question does work.



The install is not for the faint of heart, nor does it take a rocket scientist to accomplish.

Download the aforementioned file from XDA.
Rename it "update.zip" without the quotation marks.
Place the file on your external SDCard.
From "Powered down state" hold volume down (left volume toggle) first, and then press and hold "power button" (at the same time).
Do no release either until you see a few lines of white text in upper left corner of screen.
Shortly afterwards you'll see the Green Android update Robot and a progress bar.
Let it go.
It will go to approx. 75% and freeze (don't phreak out). Let it sit there for 2 minutes at frozen state.
Power off your tablet, then power it on normally again.
You get to a screen that says it's configuring apps.
When finished it will boot into ICS, but lock up on you (once again don't phreak out).
Hold power button until device turns off.
Hold volume down (left volume toggle) first, and then press and hold "power button" (at the same time).
Do no release either until you see a few lines of white text in upper left corner of screen.
This time you'll be met with a New Android Recovery Robot (new android recovery was installed when you flashed the first time).
Let him do his magic, and when he's done, you'll be met with the screen below (taken with my phone as the screen cap on the device obviously cannot be used).


Sit back, be patient for a few minutes, let it reboot, and have fun with ICS on your A200

As always, flash at your own risk, and if you brick your tablet I am not responsible!!!

Thanks for the write up! I agree, it's a good idea not to FREAK out. I think I may wait for the official though, with it being so close now.

Cool - someone got it to work - gets to about 30% on my tab and then throws up android guy with an error message
- last time i saw this - it was something to do with the number of applications installed on the device.

Not sure it that bodes well for OTA updating either - google really have to get this sort of crap sorted out with their os

Guess only time will tell.

Thank you for the info on udating the software... I was trying ti use the internal storage to update. Have you figured out how to root it yet??
