    Question ICS Madness!

When ICS was pushed to me a month or so ago, the media indexing function got a bit screwy: all photos, songs, and videos (existing on the tablet prior to, and copied to it afterwards) are listed 3 times each in all media applications.

It makes for rather cluttered listings, and even worse - if I chose the wrong item from the 3 entries listed - some apps will simply crash.

Not sure if it's related (but also happened when I upgraded to ICS), but I've also lost access to the external SD card through the tablet's USB port - meaning I have to take the SD card out and stick in my PC to load files.

Has anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone know how to correct it?

For your media apps, go to Settings - Apps - All - [APP] - Clear Data

When you open it back up it will re-index what is on the tablet.

If that does not work, you may need to do a factory reset which will wipe all user data and apps that are installed.

I highly recommend this as some apps installed under HC may not run the same and have remnants of HC still hanging around. It sounds like a lot of trouble, but IMO it is well worth it. When I update from any windows version to the next I do a fresh install, HC to ICS is the same (new framework, kernel, OS, etc.)

Yep, clear the data under media storage. You may need to use the google play music to re-build the media library afterward (clear the data under that app too). If your media files are located on the external SD card, you may need to unmount / re-mount the card.

    That worked for me.
