The sources come from xda dev forums. There are ways to decode the ota updates as they come over.

I agree the XDA stock ICS ROM was the way to go for me. I tried every conceivable way to roll back to HC from the leaked ICS and just couldn't do it, always hung up on the flashing ANDOID logo. Used the XDA version, no problem. The numbers all read the same as the OTA that others are getting. Highly recommended.

It seems like Acer is updating to several different builds, 014, 015, and even 017. I haven't seen any 016's yet, lol..

Anyone knows what the differences are? I guess asking for a change-log from ACER would be asking for too much

I'm not 100% sure, but it kinda seems location based, the 017's I've seen are overseas. But the funny thing is the people that reported the 017 claim it is missing certain languages for their country's (ie: spanish), lol. Derp Acer.

I am good all the way to step 3--I get the android with gears, but instead of a progress bar, I get the dead android with a red exclamation mark inside a triangle. If I press the home key, I get blue and yellow recovery console text referring to E:---unable to mount, file or dir. missing, etc. Is the E: drive on the internal card or is it the microsd card? This machine was updated to ICM already and had worked well for several weeks. Now it won't boot and will not reset (soft or hardware); nor will it accept a rom update from the microsd card. Any ideas?

I would start off fresh. With a cleanly formatted FAT32 microSD card. Verify that the file is renamed "update.zip", not "update.zip.zip" and placed in the root of the microSD. Also verify the buttons pressed to update from microSD is power and volume rocker closest to the corner of the tab.
