    A100 vs A500

The A100 is not yet available where I am (Japan), but will be soon. It's not yet clear what the retail price will be, but the difference in list price between the A100 and A500 seems to be a mere 2000 yen ($25). Although my preference is for a 7 inch, would I be crazy not to go for the better device if they both retail for nearly the same price?

There really isn't a whole lot of difference between the A100 and A500 other than the size. I haven't compared the specs but I know that they are very similar. Go with the size that you prefer.

    Key differences:
A500 has a slightly better screen - not just bigger, but wider view angles
A500 has a full-size USB, and it supports being a USB master (which means USB keyboards & storage drives you plug in, work)
    A500 has longer battery life
A500 is available with 32 GB internal eMMC, while max for the A100 is 16 GB (both support SD cards up to 32 GB).

They're close to the same price here in the USA, which made it a tough decision since I wanted the smaller footprint. Ultimately I valued footprint over the above advantages of the A500. No regrets, since my A100 goes places an A500 would not.

In this household are 2 A100 and one A500. If I could only keep one it would be the A500. My husband uses it for less stuff and prefers A100. I begin the day reading international newspapers.

After owning several 7" tabs the A500 is the way to go. The larger screen is great for Kindle and watching Videos. I also have trouble typing on the smaller screens.

I have both the A500 and A100. I first bought the A500 and was very happy with it, but when the A100 became available, I bought it since I really like the smaller footprint which makes it very handy and portable. Now I am having problem if I am going to let go of the bigger A500 cause it has its strong points specially the USB Port which allows me to use a USB Keyboard and Mouse along with being able to access my external hard drives. I might end up having both but if I would need to let go of one, it wiill be the A500. I just love the smaller size of the A100.
